The Thing is Dead!
It died a peaceful death sometime in late 2001. I still use it, but development is discontinued for a number of good reasons.
I've been working on something much better (I think) instead for quite a while now.
The source code tarball of the latest version is midithing_0.4.2.tar.gz. You'll find a manual describing the Python interface inside the tarball.
The midi thing is free software. Please see the GNU Public License as made by the Free Software Foundation.
